Music in May

Over the course of the month of May, I had the pleasure of photographing several live music performances at the Clocktower Centre in Moonee Ponds for their Music in May program.

Music in May was programmed by Moonee Valley City Council as part of the Victorian Government’s Recovery Arts Initiative, and offered free performances to residents in the area on Saturdays & Sundays at the Clocktower Centre. Victoria has easily been the hardest hit state in Australia throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, so it is heartening to see the State Government trying to inject some funding into the arts. Not only did this program support those performing artists on stage, it also supported myself and several other photographers who have been struggling with cancelled/rescheduled/cancelled-again gigs over the last year.

I don’t photograph a lot of live music, so I really enjoyed the challenge of these gigs. It was great to be involved in this initiative and I want to give a shout out to the team at Moonee Valley City Council and the Clocktower Centre, and of course share some of my favourite photographs from the three dates:
